Health Council + Public Health Specialist

The Public Health Specialist will be responsible for providing high-level program management and capacity building programming and technical support for NM Alliance of Health Councils (NMAHC) and its network of health councils. Duties include planning, implementing, and managing daily operations to achieve program goals and deliverables promptly, with quality, and within budget, while providing exemplary support to Health Councils and key partnerships. The Specialist supports the overall success collaborates on the growth of the organization and contributes to strategic priorities. The specialist will work closely with the Executive Director, Tribal Liaison, staff, and New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) - Health Promotion regional teams in providing and coordinating training, technical assistance, and other support activities for Health Councils and NMAHC's public health project activities.

Marketing, Branding, and Media

The Marketing, Branding, and Media Deliverable position will design Advocacy Branding and messaging for statewide County and Tribal Health Councils, key advocacy partners, and NMAHC for marketing, outreach, and engagement.

This advocacy Media includes dynamic, informational, and animated video storytelling relaying the impactful and critical work of County and Tribal Health Councils, including branded video campaign templates and toolkits. Duties will also include PSA and CTA videos of varying lengths as well as animated infographics.

*Please note that NMAHC has all the relevant collateral, toolkit, and media primed for redesign and rebranding.

Health Council Primary Prevention Planning

The Health Council Primary Prevention Planning will engage New Mexico’s County & Tribal Health Councils in the development of a community-driven plan for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) primary prevention. The Contractor will manage all project activities, provide technical assistance to Health Councils, and write a final report.

Climate Change Health Impact & Community Action Coordinator (CCHICA)

The goal of the Climate Change Health Impacts & Community Action (CCHICA) project is to identify the content of drought-related public policy and/or variations in practices across jurisdictions that contribute to or perpetuate racial health inequities and to revise or develop new policies to decrease health inequities and reduce their impact on structural racism.

The CCHICA project uses Legal Epidemiology to assess the impact of water-related local laws on community health, health equity, and structural racism.  5 Health Councils are working through the process of collecting background research on water issues in their communities, identifying local law, coding the law, and looking for ways that law is affecting the health of their community, with the ultimate aim of revising or changing laws to mitigate drought and improve the health of their communities.

Public Health System Evaluator & Data Analyst

The goal of the Public Health System Evaluator & Data Analyst is to work withCounty & Tribal Health Councils to evaluate their efforts to improve community health. This project will measure and assess Health Councils’ progress towards achieving health equity goals identified in their 2023 Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP). A system to ensure each CHIP meets quality standards is already in place. The Public Health System Evaluator & Data Analyst will design a simple but effective structure to monitor Health Councils’ progress towards achieving their CHIP goals, assess and identify gaps in critical services in public health and make recommendations on how to address these at the system level.
