Project Description
The CCHICA project will use Legal Epidemiology to assess the impact of water-related local laws on community health, health equity, and structural racism. 6 Health Councils will work through the process of collecting background research on water issues in their communities, identifying local law, coding the law, and looking for ways that law is affecting the health of their community. With the ultimate aim of revising or changing laws to mitigate drought and improve the health of their communities.
The project aims to increase community knowledge of the impacts climate change has on one’s physical, mental, and spiritual health. All while also empowering community to understand their local laws and know they have the ability to advocate for safer and healthier laws.
