Christopher Hudson is Diné (Navajo), of the Dzi ł t ł'ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan), born for the Tsi'naajinii (Black Streaked Forest People Clan), his cheii are Kinyaa'áanii (Towering House Clan), and his nalí are Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan). He lives in TsaYahToh, New Mexico on the Navajo Nation. He is born and raised in the Gallup/McKinley community.
Christopher works as Coordinator for the McKinley Community Health Alliance (MCHA) to affect and facilitate change in systems that perpetuate health, education, economic, and environmental inequities. By continuing ongoing collaborations and engaging new community members & agencies in future collaborations, he has ensured the ongoing efforts of the county health council are felt throughout the community.
Christopher is also a community organizer collaborating with state, local and national agencies to facilitate understanding, movement and change for the wellness & health of the entire McKinley community. He has served his community collaborating with civic & community organizations like Strong Families New Mexico, a program of Forward Together; Somos Gallup, We Own It, and many more. Christopher has also had the honor to serve as board member in multiple organizations including the NM Alliance of Health Councils, as a founding board member of the NW NM Indigenous Women’s Resource Council and as a healthcare leader with the NM Together for Healthcare campaign.
After receiving the Gates Millennium Scholarship for his accomplishments in education, volunteerism, and leadership roles, Christopher attended the University of New Mexico. Upon returning home Christopher hustled within the McKinley/Gallup area when being asked to aid in note taking at MCHA meetings on behalf of Strong Families; from which his community & organizing work blossomed.
In his spare time, Christopher likes to bake, spend time with his nephew & niece, and owns his micro-business in the community which pre-pandemic provided treats and cakes to all. The micro-business has aided immensely in his grassroots efforts of understanding & listening to what the community needs may be & collaborating with them to realize those needs are met.
