NMAHC Committees

NMAHC Committees consist of both Board Members and other individuals interested in being involved with the work of the Alliance and Health Councils. Some committees are still in the formation phase. Executive Committee

Members of the Executive Committee are Officers of the Board of Directors. Positions on the Executive Committee include: NMAHC Board Co-Chairs, Secretary, Treasurer, and, if needed, a Member At Large. The Executive Committee should have representation from both the northern and southern parts of the state, with at least one Tribal member.

  • Christopher Hudson is Diné (Navajo), of the Dzi ł t ł'ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan), born for the Tsi'naajinii (Black Streaked Forest People Clan), his cheii are Kinyaa'áanii (Towering House Clan), and his nalí are Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan). He lives in TsaYahToh, New Mexico on the Navajo Nation. He is born and raised in the Gallup/McKinley community.

    Christopher works as Coordinator for the McKinley Community Health Alliance (MCHA) to affect and facilitate change in systems that perpetuate health, education, economic, and environmental inequities. By continuing ongoing collaborations and engaging new community members & agencies in future collaborations, he has ensured the ongoing efforts of the county health council are felt throughout the community.

    Christopher is also a community organizer collaborating with state, local and national agencies to facilitate understanding, movement and change for the wellness & health of the entire McKinley community. He has served his community collaborating with civic & community organizations like Strong Families New Mexico, a program of Forward Together; Somos Gallup, We Own It, and many more. Christopher has also had the honor to serve as board member in multiple organizations including the NM Alliance of Health Councils, as a founding board member of the NW NM Indigenous Women’s Resource Council and as a healthcare leader with the NM Together for Healthcare campaign.

    After receiving the Gates Millennium Scholarship for his accomplishments in education, volunteerism, and leadership roles, Christopher attended the University of New Mexico. Upon returning home Christopher hustled within the McKinley/Gallup area when being asked to aid in note taking at MCHA meetings on behalf of Strong Families; from which his community & organizing work blossomed.

    In his spare time, Christopher likes to bake, spend time with his nephew & niece, and owns his micro-business in the community which pre-pandemic provided treats and cakes to all. The micro-business has aided immensely in his grassroots efforts of understanding & listening to what the community needs may be & collaborating with them to realize those needs are met.

  • For the better part of 30 years, I have proudly served my community in both a Professional and in a Philanthropic manner.

    I am the Project Coordinator for the Sandoval County Health Councils Vaccine Equity initiative, the Secretary on the Executive Board for the New Mexico Health Alliance, and the Founder of a nonprofit organization that serves the LGBTQ+ community of folks statewide that range in age from 45 and above called Silver Rainbow NM.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee provides additional guidance for the work of the Alliance outside of the Board of Directors. Members of this committee come from important partner organizations, and represent issues of importance to the Alliance. This committee is newly forming, if you would like to have a greater voice in our work, contact us about joining this committee.

  • Leticia Bernal received her BS in Management and Policy from the University of Arizona and her MA in International Management from Bournemouth in London, England. She resides in Santa Fe with her three children. Her personal mission is to improve the economy, quality of life, and strengthen the future of New Mexico for her family and community. She has been a business owner in New Mexico for nearly 10 years and works to represent underserved communities and groups in attempt to make resources easier for all to access, especially those in Northern New Mexico. Leticia works as United Way of Central New Mexico’s Regional Director of Santa Fe Area and as the LANL Foundation’s Early Childhood Outreach Specialist.

Advocacy + Policy Committee

The Policy Committee consists of present and former board members, as well as individuals with policy expertise. The policy committee serves to inform the policy and advocacy work of the Alliance.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee led by the NMAHC Board Treasurer. The Finance Committee helps direct the Alliance as it grows, and works to insure a firm financial foundation for the Alliance.
