• Welcome to the New Mexico Alliance of Health Councils (NMAHC) a statewide coalition of the state’s 39 county and tribal health councils and their supporters.  The Alliance was created in 2010 to support and strengthen the health councils, and to provide a common voice on behalf of community health improvement in New Mexico.

  • New Mexico’s County and Tribal Health Councils  were created 28 years ago, following the passage of the Maternal and Child Health Plan Act by the New Mexico State Legislature in 1991.  Since then, the councils have played a key role in the state’s public health system by identifying local health needs, establishing community priorities and plans, and implementing local solutions.  The health councils have also attracted millions of dollars in funding to support programs and services to improve the health of their communities.
