This will be a great opportunity to educate the public and policymakers about the importance of public health to the overall well being of New Mexicans. As we all have experienced, there is much attention paid to the downstream effects of poor health policy and too little attention to those upstream policies that can have a much greater effect on the health of New Mexicans.
